Abdulbasit had his Bachelor of Pharmacy from University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, where he also obtained his Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry majoring in Natural Product Chemistry; researching on the isolation and Characterization of bioactive polyphenolic stilbenoid from the Vitaceae family under the supervision of Prof. Ibrahim Iliya.
With a passion for drug discovery and development, he joined as a PhD student to explore and gain expertise in the intersection of Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology, poised to explore innovative mechanistic and therapeutic research approaches into cysteine redox signaling through chemoproteomics characterization of Srx and assessment towards its druggability/ inhibitor developments relevant to oxidative stress induced diseases.
